The Discovery Statement: The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.

 

1.  On a scale of one to ten, evaluate the severity of the problem, where ten is the worst it can be and zero means there is none at all.

 

2.  The Setup – corrects polarity of one’s energy system, removes an energy blockage.Repeat your affirmation 3 times while you rub your sore spot (better) or tap the Karate Chop point (good):

 

“Even though I have this (Reminder Phrase, which names your problem),

I deeply and completely approve of myself.”  Repeat three times.

 

3.  The Sequence – Preferably, Use the fingertips of the index and middle fingers of your dominant hand.  Tap solidly, five to seven times on each point.  Keep using your Reminder Phrase.

 

EB = eyebrow (on bony part above inner end of it)

SE = side of eye (on bony part to the outside)

UE = under eye (on bony part)

UN = under nose, about halfway to lip

CH = chin, (at fold, midway between lip and chin)

CB = collar bone (below inner end)

UA = under arm (women: in middle of bra strap; men: level with nipple)

TH = thumb (outside side beside the nail)

IF = index finger (side nearest thumb and beside the nail)

MF = middle finger (side nearest index finger and beside the nail)

BF = baby finger (side nearest fourth finger and beside the nail)

KC = Karate Chop (on the outside pad of the palm halfway between the base of the little finger and the beginning of the wrist)

 

4.  The Nine Gamut Procedure – between the bottom knuckles of the ring and little fingers and about ½ inch down toward your wrist.  Its purpose is to fine tune the brain by connective nerves that engage the right or creative side (the humming), with the left or digital or practical side (the counting).   Tap continuously while doing these nine things:

    * Close eyes

    * Open eyes

    * Eyes hard down right while holding the head steady

    * Eyes hard down left while holding the head steady

    * Roll eyes all the way around in a circle

    * Roll eyes all the way around the other way

    * Hum 2 seconds of a song (suggest the first line of Happy Birthday)

    * Count rapidly from 1 to 5

    * Hum 2 seconds of a song again (Happy Birthday is good!)

 

5.  The Sequence – do once more, repeating your Reminder Phrase.  Evaluate your progress by assessing its severity again.  (You may also do this at the end of the first sequence to assess your progress, and stop if it registers zero.  If not, keep on through #5.)  If at the end of #5 there is still some remaining problem, alter the setup slightly to:

 

“Even though I still have some of this (same Reminder Phrase),

I deeply and completely accept myself.” 

 

Yes, repeat three times as usual.  Always use as much emphasis as you can to strengthen its effectiveness. 

In The Sequence, the Reminder Phrase adjusts to: “...this remaining (Reminder Phrase)”, again using much emphasis.

 

Sample Reminder Phrases: “...this sadness problem...” or “...this shoulder pain...” or “...this fear of public speaking...”

 

Sample adjusted Reminder Phrases: “...this remaining sadness problem...” or “...this remaining shoulder pain...” or “...this remaining fear of public speaking...”

 

Some ideas: headache, anger towards my father, war memory, stiffness in my neck, nightmares, craving for alcohol (or cigarettes), fear of snakes, depression.  Dr. Callahan and Gary Craig are willing to try it on everything.  Do E.F.T. on any Aspects that show up as you work.
